I think I have a Vacuum Leak in my AC system. It blows very cold, but I have a weird idle when I have the AC running. I hope whatever hose needs to be replaced does not make me need a system recharge.

Kinja'd!!!

Whatever it is, I'm not gonna mess with it until summer. Its winter and I just wont run The AC. I dont have the idle issue with the heat on.

If it blows cold consistently, its not a leak, the problem may just be the compressor.

Non related to AC.
According to reviews, Hoover is a good brand but when i bought a Vacuum cleaner 2 months ago, after only 2 mintues it started smelling to burning and it made a very very ugly noise. So i returned it.

It might not be a problem at all. The A/C compressor takes some HP to turn, so when the ECU detects the A/C is on, it increases fuel and bumps the idle speed to compensate. If the compressor hasn't been run in a while, it may be using more HP than it should, making the idle a little lumpier.

When you have the defroster on, most cars are partially running the A/C to dehumidify the air, even in winter.

if there's a leak with the AC, then you wouldn't be getting cold at all. There could be a bad bearing on the pulley for the compressor.

If it's a vacuum leak, get some ether and spray the vacuum lines until the idle goes up. That'll be your bad hose.

Actually, that might be somewhat normal. Mine and many others idle oddly when the A/C is on. It does take a little bit of extra power to run the A/C.

Just a heads up, it's the middle of winter. You could replace your AC compressor with a tub of burrito sauce and it would still blow cold.

In reading most of the responses, I don't think anyone knows anything about ac systems. If it blows cold, there isn't a leak in the system. There is a mechanism am to boost or stabilize the idle when the compressor is running, and that is where your problem lies. Hit me up on Facebook messenger tomorrow and I'll talk you through diagnosing it

What's the difference between a Hoover and a Harley rider?

On the Hoover, the dirt bag is on the inside.

Yeah, I'll show myself out.

Idles always get strange when the AC is on. Girlfriend's Taurus sounds really weird idling when we have the AC cranking. Don't sweat it unless when summer comes around it doesn't get cold.

My Escort has a Bosch series of relays that fuck with the idle circuitry when the AC is on, compensating for the increased load. The computer does the interpolation and adjusts all the factors.

My take? Run the AC every 2 weeks to keep the seals lubed, just up the temp gauge so it isn't unpleasant. (Defrost?) Then look at the wiring schematics and see where the idle control leads from the AC being on... bet you find a circuit there that might be less than sanguine.
